Gato Grottoes (断崖の町ガト Dangai no machi Gato, lit. Cliff Town Gato) is a Land from Legend of Mana. A town that is quite literally carved into the contours of a mountain range's precipice, Gato Grottoes is said to be protected by divine winds, and is the site where the hallowed Temple of Healing is situated. Dedicated to the Spirits of Air and Flame, the Temple of Healing is helmed by an ancient lineage of priests.

Profile[]

Faerie Arc[]

Two Torches[]

Escad is seem heading into the temple. Entering there, he will be discussing with Matilda about Irwin. The Hero/Heroine then enters the room, and Escad asks them whether they heard the whole conversation. He will leave shortly after, and Daena will enter the room and answer any questions about Irwin. After exiting the room, a fake Nun will enter it and kidnap Matilda. Daena will join the Hero/Heroine to go after her.

The group encounters the false Nun in the entrance of the temple, enclousured not only by them, but also by Escad. This has no use, as the Nun teleports her and Matilda away. The remaining characters head for the Dungeons of Gato, where Daena will offer to go directly to a sealed room. There, real nuns will scort Matilda back and the player will fight the Spriggan.

In Search of Faeries[]

The Nun at the door of the Dreamweaving Room will inform the Hero/Heroine that Matilda has been looking for them. She asks the Hero/Heroine to search for Daena, who has disappeared.

Star-Crossed Lovers[]

The Hero/Heroine arrives at the temple to find Matilda and Daena there. Shortly after, Escad appears, and lunges to attack Daena as a heated discussion is set. Desperate, Matilda casts a spell and teleports everyone but Escad to Mindas Ruins.

Heaven's Gate[]

Matilda is resting at the Dreamwaving Room as she usually is, until the Hero/Heroine's arrival. She talks shortly about an ancient wyrm of light and Irwin's plans when he ressurects it. The player will be given the Brooch of Love AF after talking to her.

Upon the completion of Lucemia, someone will come to the Cancun Bird's Nest to announce the passing of Matilda. If Daena is brought along to Lucemia, or she's killed back in Star-Crossed Lovers, a Nun will announce it. Daena will be visibly affected, while Escad will remain silent. If none of them are there (Daena killed and Escad not brought along), there will be no reaction from the Hero/Heroine, unsurprisingly.

Jumi Arc[]

The Flame of Hope[]

On the entrance of the city, a wounded Sproutling, laying on the ground, is approached by a Nun who offers help to him. Crying about a pain on it's "tummie", it runs upwards. Arriving on the fork, the player finds Rubens, who is standing on the left side. After going to the right side, the Sproutling is found alongside a Nun, who tells them that they have a Popo Bug on their belly. She says she has to shed a leaf from the Sproutling in order to remove the bug, but they panic and run away once again. Returning to the fork, the Hero/Heroine may talk to Rubens, who asks about suspicious movement. After leaving the scene, a note falls from the roof.

On the Temple of Healing, the Sproutling will be harassing a praying Nun. The Sproutling goes back and forth around her, complaining about their pain, for she answers that holding off from the material, all pain will be gone. This does not seems to calm them down, as they once again run off.

On the Cliff Terrace is now Rubens, the Nun, and the Sproutling. The Nun tells Rubens the Sproutling has a Popo Bug, of which is a rare creature that may cure any illness. She asks him if he does not want to cure "his beloved". Ruben says he does not want to interfere in anyone's life, as he doens't wants the opposite.

Going back to the temple, the once praying Nun is now laid down on the ground. Inspector Boyd arrives, yelling to the Hero/Heroine to not touch the body. The Nun gets angry, since she's not dead.

Back into the terrace, the player will find Rubens and the Nun discussing the same matter of before. The Nun finally assaults Rubens, attacking him. She demands he cries "like a baby" if he wishes to live. He does not, as he is not capable of it, and she takes his Ruby core. Inspector Boyd arrives at the scene, fuming over the just now escaping Sandra, and immediately suspects the Hero/Heroine, telling her (if a Heroine) to get "those damned sticks out of your hair". Rubens tells him it was a Nun, and the Inspector reads off to the temple, still furious. On his dying breath, he mourns over his lover, Diana, and finally vanishes.

The player is sent to the temple, where Inspector Boyd asks the Hero/Heroine for their help, from which a loud thanks is given upon accepting his request. He asks the Hero/Heroine to search the dungeon while he will search the temple. In the dungeon, a trail of leaves leads up to the Waterfall. Upon arriving at the Cancun's Bird Nest, the player and Inspector Boyd finds Sandra, who quickly escapes by grappling her hook into the Cancun Bird. The Inspector fumes once again, and laments that had he know Rubens was a Jumi, he would have guessed the Flame of Hope was his core, and not the temple sacred torches.

Bud and Lisa's Arc[]

The Seven Wisdoms[]

One of the Seven Wisdoms, Selva can be found here. He will appear at the fork after all the other wisdoms have been talked to. He tells Bud that children, though mostly left of the flow of events, are always trying to make up mistakes of the adults, and that those actions will carry on to be valuable to his magic career.

Niccolo's Arc[]

Niccolo's Business Unusual: Part 2[]

Niccolo is wandering the town shop, and asks the Hero/Heroine if they want to gather Greenballs. Uppon arriving in the city's waterfall, a Faerie will appear while the player awaits Niccolo to collect his greenballs. Upon talking to her, Niccolo will interrupt, thinking the Hero/Heroine is crazy to be talking to themselves, as he cannot see faeries. He will reward the player 500 lucre and a Greenball Bun, and possibly the Broken Doll AF.
