AoM Julius

Julius from Adventures of Mana

Julius is a major antagonist in Final Fantasy Adventure and its remakes, Sword of Mana and Adventures of Mana.

Julius is a powerful user of Dark-elemental magic. He occupies a high spot in Dark Lord's empire and is implied to be the power behind the throne. In all three games in which he appears, he turns out to be the final boss.

Adventures of Mana/Final Fantasy Adventure Edit

According to the backstory, Julius is the son of Vandole and intends to restore the Vandole Empire. He also seeks to marry the Heroine whom he fell in love with.

Sword of ManaEdit

Although Julius and Dark Lord work together and are close friends, their goals differ. While Dark Lord seeks power and revenge, Julius has designs of his own, with a great interest in Mana power.

After Dark Lord's death, It's revealed by Cibba that Julius is Vandole himself, suggesting that Julius's Shadow is the Vandole slain by the Gemma Knights years ago.

Julius/Vandole's desire for Mana power seems to be an attempt to recreate the actions that the Julius in Adventures of Mana attempted, though he has no idea what to do with the Mana power aside from marrying the Heroine of his world. (Heroes of Mana reveals there are many parallel worlds.) In this way, he hopes to succeed where the real Julius failed.

Following his defeat, he proclaims that he'll always exist as long as Mana itself does, revealing himself to be the manifestation of the curse created by the Echoes of Mavolia when they possessed Anise and that the Heroine will meet him again.

Personality Edit

The real Julius from Adventures of Mana is an opportunist and obsessed with reviving the Vandole Empire. He also falls in love with Heroine and attempts to marry her.

The fake Julius from Sword of Mana is a sadist and a torturer. Although he doesn't appear to share Dark Lord's sincere disagreement with the Mana people's worldview, Julius appears to delight in putting the heroes in perilous ethical situations. When Medusa is killed, he taunts the Hero and Heroine, saying they are no better than him.

BossEdit

In Sword of Mana, the player battles Julius a total of three times.
